The Next Big Thing!

This, Ladies and Gentlemen; Good Readers and Fellow Authors, is a game in which I would dearly love everyone's participation! Readers, spread the word - and find out more! - about your favourite author's newest Big Thing, and Authors, tell the hungry public all the nitty-gritty details of your next Big Thing! Come one and all - join in! I did - see below:

1) What is the working title of your current/next book?

My current work in progress is the sequel to the book which is the current feature of this site. It is the followup to Undisclosed Desire, and for now, is tentatively titled War of Desire.

2) Where did you get the idea for that book?

The same place I got the idea for Undisclosed Desire, actually - my fiancée suggested it to me! She said it would be interesting to see Keith D'Ameron and Javier Estas move further on in their lives as vampires, and we thought the turbulent times surrounding the beginning of the American Revolution would be a perfect setting for them.

3) What's the genre of the book?

Dark, erotic fantasy.

4) If you could pick actors to play the lead characters in your story, who would you pick?

I can answer for Keith right off the bat - Gaspard Ulliel, the French actor who played a young Hannibal Lecter in Hannibal Rising, but Javier Estas took a little more thinking. I think Paul Bettany - the man who played Dustfinger in Inkheart - would be a fine choice, though - he has the fierce anger to him that Javier has, and the sharp gaze.

5) How would you describe your book in one sentence (10 words or less)? A spicy love story akin to Anne Rice's early vampires.

6) (a) How will your book be published, submitted through the traditional route to a traditional publisher or will you be handling it yourself through Indie Publishing methods?

I don't think traditional publishers are ready for the scope of the sparks that fly between Javier and Keith in my story. I published it through Createspace and Amazon KDP myself - and I must say, I'm happy with the result.

(b) If you're an Indie Author, will you be publishing through your own Indie Publishing company or in a collective with other Indie Authors?

I'm definitely an Indie author, but I'll stick to being a part of KDP and Createspace for some time to come. I don't have the head for business required to run my own publishing company.

7) How long did it take you to write the first draft of this book?

The very first draft was completed sometime in 2009, but was left sitting until 2011, when it was looked over, edits were made, and then it was published in 2012. I originally began the story in November of 2008, as my first attempt at National Novel Writing Month, something in which I and my fiancée participate every year. We've won every year since 2008.
What other books within your genre are similar to yours? I actually do not read much within my own genre. The reason I wrote the story in the manner I did was simply because the characters demanded it that way. And what they demand...
9) Who or what inspired you to write this book? My fiancée inspired me to write Keith and Javier's story, and the reception I'm getting from my readers as well as from my fiancée is what is inspiring me to turn the story into a series.
10) What about your book will pique the reader's interest? What I keep returning to during the writing of the second novel is how well Javier and Keith complement one another. Their back-and-forth is a mix of sly, underhanded humour and breathless sexy appeal that makes them very real to me - and to more than a couple of my readers! I've been asked several times to submit them to Jasper fforde's BookWorld so they can become real - which, to me, serves as a higher compliment than any sales number could ever be, because they're seeing my characters as *I* see them, and that is all I ever wanted to do. I wanted to share my stories with the world and let the world see what *I* see in my head (which is sometimes pretty scary, but the readers seem to like it!)

Now, all authors! Come and play along! Copy the questions and post them on your own blog!  When you do, post the link in the comment box below so I can come and visit to see your answers!
